Surferando a 20 ēC bajo cero SONIC SURF CITY

BEST OF THE REST

NT065 CD

This compilation is the long-awaited second part to our Sonic Surf City collection "The Surfers that came from the cold" (No Tomorrow, 2000). In the first volume we packed almost every track from these swedish masters' first four Eps, and now we bring you almost every track from their two LPs, "Life's a Beach" (1993) and "Surf Don't walk" (1996).

Sonic Surf City were formed in Sweden in the late 80s and disbanded in the mid 90s. In this time they recorded several marvellous singles and Eps and a couple of albums full of turbo-charged beach pop played at neck-breaking speed with upfront guitars and boy/girl vocals, with a little warm, breezy sunshine pop thrown in for good measure.

With a fun-is-first attitude and their influences on their sleeve (namely, 60s vocal surf, bubblegum and the Ramones), Sonic Surf City neverthless succeded in writing enthusiastic, infectious music that sounds today as fresh as when it was released.

The records compiled in this CD were originally only released in Sweden, and are now a pretty tough find, so this compilation is a very good news for the searchers of exquisite punkpop sounds.
